The Gandhi of the Seed Movement
 
One of the seed movement's most outspoken and iconic activists, Dr. Vandana Shiva has been leading the charge for seed freedom and sovereignty for many years. So it is with great excitement and honor that RMSA is partnering with the Sun Valley Wellness Festival in hosting Vandana Shiva as a special guest!shiva

May 26 – 29, 2017 (Memorial Day Weekend)
 
Dr. Shiva will be giving a keynote talk at the festival on Saturday night the 27th of May, as well as a special Monday, May 29th workshop. On Sunday, May 28th, please join RMSA for a special panel discussing the state of seed saving and seed literacy in the Wood River Valley. Titled "What Do Seeds Have to Do with It?", the panel will be moderated by Ali Long, founder and director of the Local Food Alliance, who has been instrumental in many important local food initiatives.
 
Participants in the Sunday panel include: Bill McDorman (RMSA), Casey O'Leary (Snake River Seed Cooperative and RMSA Board Member), and Brett Stevenson (Hillside Flour and Grain).
 
We look forward to seeing you in beautiful Sun Valley for this momentous seed gathering!

This award-winning documentary movie produced by Ketchum native Taggart Seigel features Bill McDorman, Dr. Vandana Shiva, and a host of other seed and local food advocates. The showing is sponsored by the WRHS W.A.T.E.R. Club, whose members will be on hand to facilitate a post post-screening Q&A as well as distribute pollinator-friendly flower starts to the community. The remaining flowers will be planted around various district schools and the Bloom Garden.
 
If you would like to host a screening of SEED in your community, please look into purchasing a screening license here. We will get a percentage of the proceeds. Thank you!
 
 
Teacher Training Filling Fast

Although we still have four and a half months to go until Seed School Teacher Training, the word is getting out, especially since we have scholarship funding available for tuition. Special thanks to Kalliopeia for ongoing support and understanding of the grassroots efforts needed to change the seed paradigm through education. Kalliopeia has helped fund Seed School for years and once again is stepping up to make it possible to bring in diverse and economically disadvantaged participants.
 
Seed School Teacher Training
Sunday, October 1 - Friday, October 6
$750 Regular Tuition
 
This will be our third teacher training. Training more teachers will be the way we will exponentially increase seed literacy in communities. This course includes the 7-week Seed School Online program to get you up to speed (or provide a refresher) and ready to jump into all kinds of creative strategies to inspire and empower people everywhere to save seeds.
