2019 Year-End Donation

In 2014, Rocky Mountain Seed Alliance (RMSA) was created to inspire community seed saving and the development of community-based models of seed stewardship. In two years' time, an exciting new grassroots network emerged to bring heritage and ancient grains back into our local food systems. This eventually led to the creation of the Heritage Grain Trials program.

We had no idea that you would make this program so successful and we thank you for that. As humans begin to explore more carbon-neutral diets, the “heritage and ancient grains” we are trialing such as kamut, einkorn, quinoa and millet will become more relevant because of their higher protein and nutrition content with fewer inputs.

At RMSA, we appreciate the important role seed stewardship has played and will continue to play in the development and evolution of human culture and our relationship with the land.  Our Heritage Grain Trials program now offers 285 grain varieties to 103 inspiring growers from all around the US. This program, as well as the growing number of educated seed savers, offers the best scenario for finding solutions to the climate-related food issues we face now and in the future.

tortlla_cookingWe know that our efforts would not have been so successful had it not been for you; our RMSA community, our passionate grain trial members, and the amazing organizations that believe in our Mission. THANK YOU for your support and taking the steps to make a positive change in our community!

As our seed saving network and grain trial programs continue to expand in 2020, we vow to be a voice for traditional, carbon-responsible, seed saving practices. By becoming a Seed Steward or Heritage Grain Trialist, you are making it possible to build a self-reliant, diverse, highly nutritious local food economy for you, your community, and upcoming generations. Please consider joining our alliance of citizen seed savers and include RMSA in your year-end giving plans to assure this work continues.

Much gratitude and appreciation!

With gratitude,
RMSA Staff
